Senior Year Timeline.
September
Meet with Guidance Counselor to discuss after high school plans.
Narrow your list of schools.
Send for college applications.
NMSQT Semi-finalists announced.
Sign up for a Senior College Planning Refresher Seminar.
Register for the October & November ACT and SAT.
Registration packets are available in the Guidance Resource Center.
Have parents attend the College Information Night -Senior Edition.
October
Attend area college fairs. See Guidance Resource Center or Guidance Bulletin Board for times and locations.
Meet with college reps at Lutheran West.
Take the October ACT.
Submit CSS Profile form to colleges that require it.
Apply for ROTC Scholarships and Service Academies.
Begin completing college applications.
(Check with each college for specific deadlines)
Visit colleges that you are considering.
Request recommendations if required by colleges. Don't forget to send thank you notes.
November
Take November SAT.
Continue submitting college applications. Use Thanksgiving break as your personal deadline for accomplishing this.
Schedule ASVAB with recruiter if entering the military
December
FAFSA forms available. Cannot be filed until after January 1.
ACT and SAT testing available.
Register for January SAT II if required by college.
Begin completing scholarship applications. Be aware of specific deadlines.
January
Complete FAFSA and mail as soon after January 1 as possible.
Continue completing scholarship applications.
Bring Mid-year (Seven Semesters) Report forms to the Guidance Office
February
Complete applications for apprenticeships if entering a skilled trade.
Attend an area College Goal Sunday for help with the FAFSA
March and April
Make final college visits to the schools where you have been accepted.
Notify the Guidance Office of college or other post high school decisions.
May
Take AP Exams if applicable.
June
Notify Guidance Office where final transcript should be sent.
