ROCKY RIVER -- The Lutheran West Lady Longhorns had a rough season. The Longhorns struggled their way to a 4-21 record this season. Despite their record, many of the games West lost were winnable game if they had played four full quarters of solid basketball and if their heads were stayed in the game.

The Longhorns were led by two senior captains, Alyssa Chuhran and Sarah Gettinger. Both girls played a huge part in the team and it was hard for them to have their season over. Chuhran and Gettinger both said, "West will do amazing next year because they have a lot of great talent and we are both excited to come back and watch them win the conference." Both girls also said that they were proud of all the girls who stepped up when they were needed. They leave with saying, "Good luck and cherish your four years because it will go fast."

There were also five juniors on the team this year that played a huge role on the team. Jessica Dill, Krissy Vickers, Sam Tabor, Taylor Helmink and Meghan O’Hara were five players who stepped up throughout the season and contributed to the team greatly. All five of them have special talents and which really made them shine this year.

Sophomore Stephanie Zanotti was the only sophomore originally on varsity and she always held her own. She has some great skills which will help the team out tremendously next year. Fellow sophomores Katherine Konstan and Sam Castro both stepped up this season from JV. Both girls also contributed a lot to the team, and Konstan also earned the starting position in some games.

Finally, freshman Lindsay Thomas, Lindsey Tomola, Marissa Spelich and Ari Tomasula also played well this season. These four freshman played huge roles and some of them also got starting positions in some games. West will be seeing a lot from these four girls in the future.

These fourteen girls became a family this season, and each of them used their specific God-given talents to the best of their ability. The Longhorns are looking to go far next year in conference because their talent level is on the rise. If they put full effort into all four quarters of basketball, decrease their turnovers and learn to help each other on the court, they will be unstoppable.

West was coached by Josh Campbell , Becky Boyd and Josh Hubeler . These three coaches gave up a lot for these girls and never gave up on them. The Longhorns finished the season 4-21, but wins and losses are not what they will remember about this year.
